Finally I get to post something! I know it’s been a while, but I’ve been busy with a few projects that I can’t display for the next few months. This is some fan art I did for Ark Survival Evolved. It is definitely my favorite video game of all time so this is way overdue. I’m sure my fellow Ark players can relate to this image, lol. My Argentavis ‘War Bird’ is my longest surviving dino yet so I decided he deserved a spot on here. Thanks for looking, and let me know what you think!
This was a tough commission. I don’t have a lot of experience with robots or machinery, but I always love a challenge. The worst part though was when my tablet crashed when I was almost finished so I had to start over. I was lucky enough to get twice the experience on this one, lol.
This is not what my daughter had in mind when she asked me to paint the little mermaid. Couldn’t help myself, lol.
This is a cut out from the illustration I’m currently working on. I’m sure you can pretty much guess what is happening in the scene, lol. I should have the entire thing done by tonight, we will see how things go. Enjoy!
Well here it is! It was hard to decide to call it finished, but after staring at it for so long I might just make it worse if I keep messing with it. I made some serious changes to the dragon, he was looking a little goofy. Next time I paint eyes that big, someone speak up! But anyways I hope you all like it, it sure did take forever. Let me know what you think!
Still pushing through the details. Most of the work I have left to do is around the border of the image, mainly in the top left corner. It’s better to save the fun details until last but I couldn’t help myself, I went ahead and detailed most of the focal point. Now I’m stuck finishing the boring parts, lol. But I’m happy with how the character is turning out so far. The next post will be the finished image, wish me luck!
Color! Now it’s getting interesting. I’ve added some base tones and some detail in the focal point. The colors tend to change as I go along, warmer and cooler as needed until I feel that its flowing correctly. As you can see I’ve changed the dragons face considerably to make him look more friendly. I still have a ton of work to do, but its beginning to come to life. This is my favorite part of the painting process by far. I will continue to play with the colors and add in all of the details.
