Don’t get me wrong, I am so grateful to have work, and to finally be able to get paid to do what I love. But man is it driving me nuts not being able to show you guys what I’ve been up to!! I have to wait until the works have been published before I can add them to my sites, so it seems I’ve been inactive, but actually I’ve been really busy! I’ll have a personal work done within a week or so to show everyone though I promise! Thank you all for still stopping by! I have to get back to painting..
Well it’s now been 21 days since I delivered my Companion Tablet back to Wacom for repairs, again. Now it seems that it has been lost in the mail, or stolen, neither of which has been actually confirmed by either side. It really wouldn’t be that big of a deal, due to the fact that I have another Cintiq to paint on. Besides the point that I had 80+ hours in two paintings that are saved on that tablet, that both had deadlines that are now missed. I’ve heard many artists talk about this nightmare, but have been fortunate enough not to go through it myself. Until now. All of this could have been prevented if I would have been smart enough to save them to my desktop or flash drive. I love new learning experiences, but this one has proved to be a bit frustrating. Off to the store for flash drives….
At this stage I am really trying to find the proper values as well as define details. I try to go as far as I can before adding color. This can be a very time consuming ordeal, but very satisfying when you finally get it done. I will post the image after this part is finished, still a lot of work to do.
This is a personal project for my portfolio, I wanted to show some of my process and the steps I take during an illustration. After noticing there was a lack of happiness in my work I decided to hold off on the frowning characters and add in a smile, lol. At this point I am happy with the sketch. I blocked out some areas with light and dark tones to show depth, and I’ve started to render in some detail on the dragon. I will continue shaping out the forms until I have a solid foundation to start adding color to, as you will see in my next post.
Portrait of my beautiful girlfriend. And yes, this earned me a ton of brownie points 😉
Well I’ve enjoyed having my Companion Tablet back for the past few weeks. I sent it to Wacom to get the charging port replaced under warranty, the customer service was great and they had it back to me in no time. Unfortunately it started acting up on me again yesterday and now has completely stopped charging. And of course it died before I was able to transfer the two projects I’m currently working on to my desktop…….perfect.
I am still trying to incorporate a more comic-like feel to my work, and steer away from the static poses that I’m used to painting. I’ve always loved Rogue’s design, and figured she would be great in my portfolio. I’ve spent the last few days on this, it’s always hard for me to call a painting finished. This morning I decided to give myself another 15 minutes to polish this up and just go ahead and post it. I hope you all like it, and be sure to let me know what you think!
